Berlin

The history of Berlin, which today is the capital of Germany, dates back to the 13th century. The Holocaust Memorial and graffiti-stained remnants of the Berlin Wall are reminiscent of the eventful 20th century. After the division of the city, the 18th-century Brandenburg Gate became a symbol of reunification. Berlin is also known for its art scene and modern sights such as the Berlin Philharmonic with its golden facade and tent-like roof from 1963.
